MAN ON DOG

(One-act.  2f, 3m)

Man On Dog

Bisexuality, polyamory, and pregnancy are only the beginning in this somewhat warped drama.  Rachel begins an unusual romance with both Jonathan and Artemis Reilly, a couple she met at a party.  But when she learns that not everyone is exactly who they seem to be, the revelations set all involved on a collision course with the uneasy intersection of sex, morality, and the law.  This controversial play premiered Off Off Broadway at the Emerging Artists' Theatre on 42nd Street's Theatre Row, where it was called "reprehensible" and "like a fork in the eye".  Immediately after the production, the theater was torn down, along with seven other nearby theaters, apparently just in case.  No, really.

Productions: Man On Dog was produced at Emerging Artists’ Theatre (Off-Broadway, New York), and at the Boston Theatre Works’ Unbound Festival (Massachusetts), both in 2005. It was also performed by the Bloody Unicorn Theater Company (Arizona) in 2006, and by Insurrection Theater (Arizona) in 2007.
Publications: Man On Dog has been published in EATfest: Best of Fest (United Stages).

Awards: Finalist, Reverie Productions Next Generation Playwriting Contest, 2005
Finalist, Tennessee Williams/New Orleans Literary Festival One Act Play Contest, 2005 2nd Place, Boston Theatre Works Unbound Festival, 2005 Finalist, Arts & Letters Prize for Drama, 2005

Reviews: The last play of the evening was Man on Dog. It was the best play of the evening. Del Rosso did an excellent job as Artemis. The play was riveting … It forced the audience to consider the issues from a viewpoint they had never used before.” – Women's Community Connection, April 2007

“… an engaging take on polyamourousness, with a twist, with Susan Condit Rice as the engaging object of affection.” – Will Stackman, On The Aisle, August 2005
